Umpiring Bumps

In addition to the Chief Umpire and their deputies, the Bumps races are umpired by the CUCBC Executive Committee and volunteers from the constituent clubs.

The majority of umpires will cycle alongside a group of three crews and will be responsible for their safety as well as awarding any bumps that may occur here. In addition to this, there are a number of static umpires stationed along the course.

We ask that all umpires have rowed or coxed in at least two sets of bumps races in the past. Those who are less experienced will act as 'Junior Umpires' alongside a more experienced Senior Umpire.

All umpires will be invited to attend the free Umpires' Dinner after the Bumps by means of a thank you and providing umpires will reduce the number of marshals a club will be required to provide.
